Problems with a Girl and a Unicorn (extract)

* please note: this story, unlike the rest of my site, is not suitable for kids*

A graphic adaptation of Nick Earls‘ short story of the same name, which was originally published in his excellent collection Headgames. I have long admired Nick’s writing and it was fantastic to have the opportunity to bring this clever and funny story to life in a new format.

This 8-page comic was published in May 2011 as a colour insert in Griffith Review 32 . But it’s not in the text-only e-reader and PDF editions of the journal, so I’m providing 6 pages of it here. I have capped it at 6 here because it ends very unpleasantly – and I’m a tenderheart, and not keen on having violence / gore in my online portfolio (even though it’s a really clever and well-written ending to Nick’s story!). If you want to read the last 2 pages, by all means shoot me an email at robin.tatlow.lord@gmail.com
